 Trike-Trainer

This new model of trike trainer uses two types of magnetic resistance inside of the red drum. For most people, the fixed magnet trainer (MR100) is plenty adequate. However, if you’re seeking more power in your workout, opt for the progressive (MR110) resistance option!

If you're familiar with power curves, you can see from the chart below how the two work differently.  Otherwise, here's how to pick:

  • MR100:  If you're relatively new to cycling, working on your weight, or seeking a moderate workout and spin
  • MR110:  If you have a fair amount of cycling, running, and other aerobic experience and are seeking a stronger workout to elevate your heart rate and strengthen your legs

Bryan Ball, Managing Editor of Bentrideronline.com describes the MR110 this way:

The best way I can describe the feeling I got when training with the new Progressive Roller is “eerily realistic.” It does exactly what it claims to do. If you leave your trike in low gear and pedal a medium cadence, it feels as if you’re just cruising down the bike path. But if you bang up a couple of gears and start hammering, it feels sort of like you’re pushing into a stiff headwind trying to hold 25 mph.

One of our customer wrote on 12/15/2012 after upgrading from an MR100 to an MR110 resistance drum:

Just the right resistance at any speed. I couldn't be more pleased, both with the {progressive} drum and the customer service.  Thank you, Greg
